  • Etching with dry point on off-white laid paper. Signed and dated in the plate, lower left margin. A rich and dark impression of the third state of three according to Nowell-Eusticke. After the skillful retouching by Capt. Baillie (circa 1775) that appears initially in the second state. Eusticke refers to early impressions of this third state as, "very fine and rich."
  • The sitter was the receiver-general of the states general for the province of Holland.
