Man at a Desk Wearing a Cross and a Chain

  • Etching with drypoint on laid paper. Signed and dated in the plate bottom center. From the first state of three according to Nowell Eusticke showing the first appearance of the turned over white collar.  Also showing the irregularities on the upper border and side margins as indicative of the first state.
  • A rare 17th Century impression.
  • Nowell-Eusticke refers to this etching as, "a scarce plate, face usually light."
  • Plate no longer in existence.
